Memorial Tree Program
Rooted in Love and Remembrance
Established in 1983, the Memorial Tree Program by Danville Parks and Recreation offers a heartfelt way to honor loved ones by planting a tree in our parks, giving new life to their memory. A tree is a timeless symbol of strength, beauty, and endurance, enhancing the natural landscape while providing a lasting tribute to those we miss. To date, hundreds of trees have been donated, contributing to the beauty and preservation of our parks.
How It Works
Register for a Tree – Begin by submitting your registration.
Tree Selection and Installation – You will be contacted with information about the tree type, location, and installation date.
Confirmation – Within 30 days, you will receive the specific location of your tree.
Memorial Recognition – Your loved one’s name and tree location will be added to our online memorial tree catalog and digital map for easy access and remembrance.
Terms and Conditions
Danville Parks and Recreation strives to maintain all memorial trees in good condition. However, we cannot guarantee the longevity of the tree. The tree is not covered under warranty in the event of vandalism or natural causes. If damage occurs, the owner will be responsible for the replacement. If you wish to replace a memorial item, please contact the Danville Parks and Recreation Department at 317-745-4180 ext. 5201.
Digital Mapping Transition
To enhance accuracy and accessibility, we transitioned from handwritten records to a digital mapping system in the summer of 2024. If you believe your loved one’s tree is marked incorrectly, please contact the Parks Department, and we will work to make any necessary adjustments.
By participating in the Memorial Tree Program, you are not only honoring a loved one but also contributing to the beauty and sustainability of our parks for generations to come.
